How to Use This Book The book you're holding is a potent natural medicine--a concentrated collection of hundreds of ways for you to feel better. And like any potent medicine, you need some simple instructions on how to "take" it so that it's maximally effective. You need to know how to use this book. Obviously, when using this book you'll probably turn first to Part II, "Natural Remedies for 160 Health Problems," to find remedies for the health problem that's bothering you (or someone you care about). You can use any of those remedies right away, of course. But you'll notice that almost all of the individual remedies refer you to a chapter in Part I of this book, "Understanding the Methods of Natural Healing." You may want to read that chapter before you use the remedy. So for example, if you have arthritis and you've decided to try the Ayurvedic remedy for the disease, you may want to read the Ayurveda chapter first. If you've decided to try juicing, you may want to read the juice therapy chapter first. If you've decided to try a homeopathic remedy, you may want to read the homeopathy chapter first. (You get the idea.) You don't have to read these chapters first--in fact, you don't have to read them at all--but reading them may make you a more informed (and perhaps more successful) user of the natural remedies in this book. (Of course, feel free to read all of these chapters before you use the remedies in New Choices in Natural Healing. Each chapter is a fascinating guide to a particular "country" in the varied world of alternative healing.) The remedy may also ask you to turn to a page in the illustration section in Part II. Some of the remedies involve exercises that we've illustrated, and we've put all of these illustrations together in one part of the book for your reading convenience. Finally, you may want more information about the alternative methods discussed in this book. Or certain remedies that the book suggests may not be readily available, and you may have to order them through the mail. For this, please turn to Part III, "Resources for Natural Healing." You will find a complete listing of organizations, sources of mail-order products and books for each of the 16 natural healing methods that are covered in this book. And here's a final "instruction" for using New Choices in Natural Healing: Use it in good health!
